A Wedding in Wales ~ A Short, Sweet Bridesmaids Dress and Lots of Vintage Lace…

Morning peeps.  Shocked and stunned at last night's events in London and so desperate to inject a bit of brightness and happiness into your day with a pretty wedding – I did wonder if this was the right thing to do today, but this is a wedding blog, a place where Brides to be can escape and be inspired and so, with a bit of a gulp in my throat, I am publishing this beautiful wedding today that was submitted by Photographer Jake Morley. I hope all my London based readers are safe and well this morning, and that their homes, properties and businesses remain unscathed.

Gaff and Aimee tied the knot on 14 May at Penpont, Brecon, Wales, chosen because it had everything the couple wanted, including a lovely small chapel onsite.

Aimee is a freelance event manager so planning her wedding was the ideal experience to put all she'd learned so far in to practice.

"I had my dress made by my uncle, Designer and Artist, Huw Richards Evans – I was so lucky to have a bespoke dress designed and made.

When designing the dress, the style revolved every meeting, a bit of lace added here and there which really added to the look of the final dress…"

"I had always wanted a long veil and chose to have thick vintage lace – it was very heavy!  I also had two pairs of shoes – one for the day which were Kurt Geiger (Cream) and another for dancing, again Kurt Geiger (turquoise)…"

Lily, Aimee's Sister, was the only Bridesmaid and had shoes to Match Aimee's, from Kurt Geiger, in bright pink.  Her dress was a beautifully short and sweet creation from Uncle Huw again 😉

"Gaff and I really wanted to provide a different wedding experience for our guests – we kept the whole day secret from our guests so they didn’t know what to expect (even a church on the site!) Our main aim was to keep it as informal and relaxing as possible for our guests so they really enjoyed the day.

"Gaff and I met in school and have been together for 14 years – Our wedding was long awaited by friends and family but came at a perfect time for us…"

Debbie Taylor from The Olive Grove Florist in Cardiff provided the bright and bold florals…

"I wanted very specific rustic ‘country garden’ flowers, almost like they had just been picked from the garden! I also wanted bright colours and we managed to find everything I wanted – including turquoise feathers to match Gaff’s tie. To top it off, the ribbon we chose complimented what we were trying to achieve…"

"Our venue  gave us the scope to decorate how we wanted it. We hired in tipi’s from Tipi Events, which gave us a blank canvas. We didn’t want to provide too much décor as the tipi spoke for itself. We incorporated colours from our flowers and used a lot of ribbon to pick out the theme of the wedding. With a lot of help we also created our own bunting, this consisted of plastic balls covered in liberty’s fabric and hung with twining – it looked amazing!"

Aimee and Gareth asked friends to create a bespoke Photo Wall as they wanted to give the wedding a more rustic and homemade feel…

"Well…giving your guests a trunk full of fancy dress hats and a wall of picture frames created such a buzz and again a different experience in a wedding!"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Really think about what you and your partner want – and how you can incorporate both personalities within the wedding. Try not to be too influenced by wedding magazines and wedding fayres – they will help you in some ways but just remember, there is nothing that you can’t do!
Make a list of what you both love and enjoy (hobbies/interests/music/food/dress style/favourite colours) and you will have the basis to your very special day.

Really make the day your own!"
