Good afternoon my loves. Thank you for allowing me the morning off today, don't worry, I will make it up to you, you know I will. My usual Friday morning bridal inspiration board is waiting in the wings to do a little bit of showing off on these pages tomorrow instead.
I hope you had time yesterday to read and maybe contribute to this post or take a pee at this beautiful wedding video yet? I'm telling you, it will have you reaching for the tissues, or oohing and ahhhing, it's so lovely! 😉 Huge thanks to Frances at Reellove Films for sending it in.
This wedding I'm featuring this afternoon was submitted by Scottish Wedding Photographer Candysnaps {all Scottish Brides need to look up this lady!}. Judy and Martin tied the knot on 3rd September this year at The Glasgow Art Club and Judy looked cute as in her original vintage floor length dress, which she chose to accessorise with a pretty birdcage veil…
"I bought this dress from The Dresser's Room, on the South Side. Unfortunately the shop has shut now, but I believe the owner, Jade Halbert, still collects and sells vintage clothing…"

"I knew that I wanted something vintage, and lace was a must. When I bought the dress, it was very different to how it looked on our Wedding day! It was a few sizes too big for me, and it had long sleeves! My mum's friend knew a seamstress, who did wonders on it, and made it into my perfect Wedding dress.
A big thank you to Vera Frazer. Vera made a beautiful veil from some of the material left over from one of the sleeves from the dress!"
"We didn't want to go overboard with the flowers as I'm allergic to pollen! So my bouquet, and the flower girls' bouquets were just a simple, single cerise Dahlia, from Martin's dad's greenhouse…"
"We chose this venue because of the character and location. We wanted the wedding to be in Glasgow, as this is where we both live and work. The Glasgow Art Club is a great venue, that not many people have heard of, and right in the City Centre. We love all the paintings on the wall, and the friendly feel it had. It was very us. The staff were fantastic…"
"My mum walked me down the aisle to Bob Dylan's 'Blowin' in the Wind'…"
"Vera, my seamstress, made beautiful little matching flower pieces for each of the three flower girls, from the material left over from the sleeves of my dress. They were a smaller version of the head piece I had for my own veil…"
"We wrote our own vows which made the ceremony very personal and special to us, helped by Humanist, Helen Singleton, who married us. Helen helped us a lot on the lead up to the day, and made our ceremony really memorable. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the ceremony."
"Everything, from my dress, to the drumstick lolly favours, to my flower that I held as I walked down the aisle, were all things that we both loved, had grown or made ourselves. That way everything meant something special to us…"
The couple kept their table decor simple by using potted fuchsias, again from Martin's dad's greenhouse, that had been lovingly grown over the summer in preparation for the wedding. I love these simple, personal touches at weddings…
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Enjoy the lead up to the wedding as much as the actual day. We both enjoyed the planning, which paid off, as everyone said how personal a day it was. We enjoyed every bit of it, and the feeling keeps going…"
A beautiful Scottish weddings in a super venue, congratulations Judy and Martin 🙂
Please take a moment to visit the Candysnaps Photography website, especially if you are a Bride in Scotland who still needs to book their wedding Photographer.
You can also take a peek here to see how other Brides worked a bird-cage veil look on their wedding day.
