What Katy Did Next ~ An Autumn Dream…

I love to feature conceptual shoots on Love My Dress, classy, elegant, styled images that might make you think twice – be it an different new inspirational hair style, or a gorgeous headpiece you might not have considered before not.

The images you see on this page are typical of the style of conceptual shoot I adore sharing with my readers.  They offer something dreamy and whimsical, and yet at the same time they serve up beautiful, accessible styling ideas. And when Belle & Bunty dresses are involved, you can guarantee some pretty too…

Accessory designer Katy Howieson of What Katy Did Next, who designed all the pieces you see in this feature, told me more about the shoot…

"Last Summer I was lucky enough to be approached by photographer Kat Timmins. At the time I was plotting my Wonderland collection {due to be featured on Love My Dress soon}, but could not pass up the opportunity to work with Kat.

We worked together on creating an Autumnal shoot for which I created a mini collection of five Unique headpieces…"

"For this collection I decided to make five bespoke ‘ready-to-wear’ headpieces that were not necessarily bridal but could be worn for any special occasion. I have called the collection 'Harvest' to reflect their amazing Autumnal feel and the prices range from £50 to £70.

They were a labour of love and I let my creativity go wild with my designs, using hessian and pinecones, teaming it with tweed, feathers and plenty of sparkle. The pieces, named Fern, Pixie, Martha, Amber and Bronte are ready to purchase now and due to their bespoke nature they are all one of a kind, the majority of the pieces include Vintage brooches and beads that cannot be replaced…"

"Never one to pass up a styling adventure – I started contacting a handful of Suppliers. First on the list was the lovely Belle & Bunty.

Images of their bridal collection were popping up everywhere and I just loved their style. After a chat with their lovely Marketing manager Kate we had bagged a loan of some of their lovely evening gowns…"

"Deciding on an outdoor location to show off the gorgeous Autumn setting of Bolam Lake, Northumberland I clicked that our model, a beautiful flame haired burlesque dancer, might just freeze in the amazing chiffon gowns that Belle & Bunty loaned to us.

I managed to borrow a couple of magnificent furs from Vintage shop Ding Dong Vintage in Durham. It was ridiculous how many amazing fur coats I had to choose from, definitely the place to go for winter furs…"

"The hair and make up was done by the incredibly generous Tracey from Beautiful Bride Make Overs. I met Tracey at my first Wedding Fair this year and she was extremely helpful and sent a lot of brides my way. Last but not least I propositioned one of my college friends to make me some Autumn loveliness. Blooming Beautiful Designs or Sarah-Louise as I know her, designed and made the wooden rustic bunting used in the shoot.

The day of the shoot was absolutely freezing and went with a couple of minor hiccups but Kat and Lily the model were extremely professional.

We got some amazing photos I hope you will love…"
