Art Deco Inspiration for the Starlet Bride…

I do adore Art Deco, all that gorgeous architecture – all those gorgeous shapes.  I love to see how a bride incorporates this beautiful style element into her wedding, perhaps through her jewellery design, or little motif on her shoe, or the way her dress is cut into diamond panels and features embellishment that scream 30's deco glamour.

This set of photographs has been sent in by Liberty in Love owner, Siu Coll.  Liberty in Love is a wonderfully stylish online bridal boutique, which I highly recommend you pay a visit.  All of the jewellery and accessories used in this shoot can be purchased directly from Liberty in Love and I have included the link to the direct product page where possible.

Siu Coll the owner over at Liberty in Love told me more about this photoshoot…

"My lovely friend Helen Roscoe and I had wanted to work on a collaborative shoot for ages. I really respect Helen’s creative eye, and she’s just so passionate about both wedding and fashion photography (and it’s no coincidence that she photographed my own wedding five years ago)…"

"As the wedding day is one day in a woman’s life to truly bask in the limelight, the idea of the starlet bride seemed particularly compelling to us.

Also, both Helen and I are fans of the fashions and style from the Art Deco period – so evocative and glamorous – and so we really wanted to capture the elegance of this era.  We played with the idea that the bride could be someone famous – a beautiful femme fatale from the 1920's enjoying the limelight, perhaps a performer?"

"Jennie from Hansley Beard styled the whole set with her beautiful vintage props and creative styling skills. Amongst the old black and white photos, vintage powder compacts and all sorts of gorgeous authentic bits and pieces, she also sourced some original peachy coloured 1920s slips and duck egg blue bed jackets which looked amazing worn.

Leighanne Regan from GHD UK Creatives styled the model’s hair with pin curls, but kept it quite loose for a contemporary update on 1920's-style hair. Smoky eyes and strong red lip by Makeup Artists, Holly and Lucy Stevensontransformed the starlet bride for her performance at the end of the night…"

"We used 1920's inspired dresses by Templerley London and The White Closet in Didsbury also kindly loaned dresses by Claire Pettibone and Lusan Mandongus.  The beautiful hair accessories and jewellery came from a range of designers, including Stephanie Browne, Peter Lang, Emmy, Jane Taylor Millinery and Harriet Wilde (all from Liberty in Love)..."
