Now, predominantly, the weddings featured on Love My Dress are British weddings, because, that's where the majority of our readers are located. Sometimes however, a super hot UK photographer goes out somewhere gorgeous like, Victoria in Gozo for instance, and photographs a swoonworthy wedding that simply has to be featured on these pages. This, my lovelies, is one of those weddings.
Gozo, in case you are wondering, is a small island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, and Maria and Mark chose to marry there on 17th July this year at The Cathedral of the Assumption, at the Citadel, followed by a reception at Ta Frenċ Restaurant, Xagħra.
I know I rave a lot about weddings, and wedding photography, but I'm so genuine when I say I adore these photographs. I've long believed the sign of a really amazing set of wedding photographs is when the images make some kind of emotional connect with you – even when you don't actualy know the people who are in the images or the couple tieing the knot! Curating these photographers together for this feature had me feel lumps in my throat at stages – and smiling my head off at others; they truly take you through the whole fantastic journey from those glamorous getting ready shots, to those intimate post ceremony portraits and the fantastic celebrations at the end of the day – all captured so incredibly beautifully by, in my humble opinion, one of the UK's most talented wedding photographers…

And then, there was that divine, fitted lace Jesus Peiro wedding gown…
"I
was looking for a timeless dress and vintage inspired so when it came
to buy the dress my mother and a good friend of mine, who has a good eye
for the style I was looking for, accompanied me.
The
Jesus Peiro dress was different than the other traditional dresses, and actually it
looked quite lifeless on the hanger. It was a simple 1920's inspired
dress. The long lace sleeves and the belt immediately caught my eye.
When I tried it on it looked a whole lot different than on the hanger.
Both my friend and I were right that the hanger did not do justice to
the dress…"
"I loved the belt because it’s quite unusual to see a wedding
dress with a belt. But most of all I loved the lace, it had very
particular lace and the longs sleeves made it very elegant when worn…"
"My bridesmaids dresses were all designed and created by an exceptional dressmaker, Maria Muscat
who was introduced to me by a mutual friend. The chosen fabric was
pale green taffeta and for the maid of honour matching chiffon was also
used.
I wanted to keep with the vintage theme, so the design was quite
simple. The flower girls also had a sash with silvery beading and
artificial flowers matching the embellishments done to their shoes."
"The maid of honour and the flower girls had hair bands matching with their dress which were also created by Maria…"
"Fresh flowers were used for the wedding ceremony (at the church),
which were taken care of by the florist. For the venue we hired a
decorator (no website link available). The dinner tables were decorated
with an ivory artificial flower arrangement, ivory petals, pearls and
tea light candles. The steps were also decorated with larger candles
and lanterns.
The candles really made an intimate atmosphere. The
tables were also decorated with a picture of an artist from the past
after which the table was named."
"Being a musician, Mark is used to wearing a dinner jacket for work
occasions so we wanted to opt for a different colour. We came across
some lovely grey fabric which turned out to be perfect match with the
ivory colour of my dress. The suit jacket had touches of matching gray
satin on lapel and the faux-pockets. The suit was tailor-made by Twanny
Abela a good friend of Mark.
To complement the
grey suit Mark wore an ivory shirt by Marc Wallace with cufflinks and an
ivory waistcoat with touches of silver embroidery."
"We wanted a photographer who would be able to tell the story of
our day and were lucky enough to come across a photographer called Jon
Dennis of S6 photography.
He did an excellent job and we cannot thank him enough for capturing
such special moments from our day. He was kind enough to offer to take
some pictures of us two days before the wedding.
Jon made us feel at use
in front of the camera, as we’re not used to have our photos taken. We
would absolutely recommend him to anyone."
"My shoes were hand-made by an excellent shoemaker in Malta (Gozo’s
sister island). Then they were embellished by Maria Muscat (the
dressmaker who also designed and created the bridesmaid’s dresses) with
beaded scalloped shells to match the belt, which was also embellished by
Maria’s golden hands."
"I walked down the aisle to Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana (we
wanted something different than the usual Ave Maria). Four of the six
musical pieces for the wedding ceremony were arranged by Mark himself
and the other two where original compositions by Mark."
"We were invited to attend a wedding at the venue we chose to hold our reception in, Ta Frenċ, and both of us fell in love
with the place immediately and apart from that the food is exquisite.
In fact we did not look for any other locations for our wedding
reception."
"Our wedding cake was a traditional almond cake made by the pastry
chef at Ta’ Frenċ Restaurant. It was a four-tiered round cake with a
rectangular base. To keep with the colour scheme the cake was decorated
with ivory sugar paste. Two tiers were decorated with a pale green
ribbon with bow made from sugar paste and the other two were decorated
with sugar ivory pearls. On top we had two porcelian pigeons by
Lladro."
"Since Mark is a brass musician we meticulously chose the bands for
entertainment. Wedding ceremony – brass quintet and two singers. For
the first hour, we had a cocktail hour accompanied by a string quartet.
During dinner and cutting of the cake we had a jazz quintet accompanied
by a jazz singer."
