Hi everyone, you ready for another bank holiday break? I can't wait for a long weekend with the family, my girls. I have a strong urge to bake and start planning some home DIY and decorations
Krystle and Jaco tied the knot on 29th September 2012 at Elie St. Michael and All Angels Church, followed by a reception at Anstruther Town Hall. I love this laid back wedding with beautiful unusual touches (check out the groom's vintage brooch as bow-tie alternative). The couple worked together on a budget with lots of guests so had to work to make a lot of savings, but told me they enjoyed the creative control aspect of this. One of the areas they very wisely invested in however was through hiring Mirrorbox Photography, who they said they would very highly recommend.
And then there is Krystle's dress, an elegant dropped waist creation from Scottish designer Rowanjoy, purchased from Godiva in Edinburgh.
"I love the store Godiva in Edinburgh and particularly love Rowanjoy dresses. Rowan
also does an amazing made to measure service and created the most
beautiful dress! I got to choose exactly what I wanted and was able to
change my mind on details if needed. It’s a very personal service and
felt much more natural to have a dress created this way."

"We met at a cocktail bar called Bramble. We were together for
about 20 months before we got engaged and tied the knot 8 months later.
We
wanted our wedding to be quite understated with muted pastel colours,
nothing too loud. The East Neuk (where we married) was an influence.
Beautiful little coastal towns with multi coloured houses. I wanted a
nice relaxed vibe that would go with its surroundings.
The church is an incredible green tin building built as a temporary
church in the 1st world war so had all the character it needed. The
town hall was originally a dance hall and was this amazing big empty
space with a stage and a beautiful balcony. We tried to keep it simple
and let the hall retain it rustic charm. We just added some Festoon
lighting, bunting and things from the sea side."
Shoes! Love the groom's choice of stylish shoes…
Jaco wore a custom cashmere suit made in Hoi-An, Vietnam, which he customised with a vintage brooch. The Groomsmen all wore suits and Jaco scouted vintage and antique stores to find little brooches for them to wear on the collar also.
"We bought the flowers from the local florist in Anstruther as they
do the flowers for Jaco’s Mum’s church. They made the bouquets and we
put all the flowers in the jam jars, I underestimated how long that
would take!"
"My Dad gave me away, we had the music to the balcony scene from
Romeo and Juliette played beautifully by Atzi (Lipsync for a lullaby) on
the Cello with a Harp accompanying."
The mean and moody James Dean look…
"We rented the most wonderful Triumph Herald from a Vintage Motor
Company in Dumfries. It was one of my favourite times driving around in
the car. We lucked out on the weather and had the top down all the time!"
"Jaco, my ever talented Graphic Designer Husband designed our wedding stationery."
Krystle’s ring was from Jaco’s Gran who married in 1920 – a very simple
gold band. Jaco’s ring was made in a small Jeweller Called James Scott
at the bottom of Dundas St in Edinburgh.
"My mum made the cake, bless her. She was so stressed about it that
it went a little skew-whiff. It was nicknamed 'the melted snowman!'
Tasted phenomenal though!"
"To entertain our guests, we hired a wonderful band called Aberfeldy we got through Freak Music. Great Scottish band who did amazing covers from Night Fever to Gimme Shelter!"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Try not to get
involved with the family politics. It’s your day and you should
celebrate it how you see fit. Relax too, everything works out in the
end!
I loved the day but driving off to our honeymoon, with the roof down,
is a memory I will always cherish. It was glorious sunshine and thinking
how wonderful the previous day was and being able to relax was the most
incredible feeling! I couldn’t believe we pulled it off! Off to Wine
tasting in the South of France, Bon Voyage!
I would of given
myself more time to do things! I underestimated how long everything
takes. Or maybe got a couple of extra hands to muck in the day before!"
How lovely and personal to this couple so completely in love (just look at that embrace above!). Thank you so much Krystle and Jaco for sharing your lovely Scottish wedding with Love My Dress and to our much loved sponsors the Mirrorbox Photography girls for once again producing a set of gorgeous inspiring images.
