Introducing Our New Team Members

This has been the most surreal of weeks in a long time.  I’d been quietly hoping for months that the launch of the new Love My Dress® this past Monday would be met with approval and appreciation by all our readers and the blogging community, but I truly never anticipated the completely overwhelming response that was received.   Just, wow!  I have what feels like 10 trillion lovely well wishing and congratulatory emails, pretty cards in the post, tweets, text messages – it’s wonderful – I am so happy, and I am so incredibly grateful to every single one of you who took the time to leave a kind few words.  Please do know how very much appreciated they are.

I’m even more eager now to put the rest of my vision for this much loved wedding blog in place – the next few weeks and months will see further changes and new services introduced, but all in good time.  For now, I am keen to introduce you to my wonderful new team of writers and the people who will be working to deliver inspiring content to you over the next few months.

Regular readers will recognise some of the names on our About page already – but there are several new faces too (Tamryn and Tiffany – more on these two super women in another post soon!).  Today, I’d like to introduce you to our new feature writers.  Each of the ladies below responded to our call out last month for writing Interns.  We were completely taken aback by the number of readers who responded and it was a genuinely difficult job whittling down to a final five.  I have to say though, I’m so very proud to have these ladies join my team – their passion for weddings and for Love My Dress completely stole my heart.

I have been working on my own blog, alongside other writing projects, for nearly a year now. Becoming a mother 18 months ago provoked a huge outpouring of creativity and ambition that I didn’t know was cooped up within me.

When I’m not sniffing niche perfumes and writing, I’m looking after my daughter Uma and going to work in the local delicatessen three days a week. I also tend to have my head buried in one book or another when I have a spare moment.

My first glimpse at the pages of Love My Dress was back in 2011 and it’s now my little bit of escapism; the weddings featured are such happy days, full of beauty and love. I’m also fascinated by other peoples creativity and how they choose to express themselves on their special day. My favourite wedding on Love My Dress is this one. Oh my God!  Everything about this wedding is gorgeous! I love the fresh colour scheme, the gorgeous flower garlands, the bride’s dress, the setting, the food – and they all look so happy! Really, honestly happy. It’s a magical day, you can feel it through the photographs.

I’m so interested in people and their different experiences, be it when they smell a particular perfume or when they get married. I love the emotion of it all, the passion and the expression. I want to write about that. Love My Dress has always struck me as a very ‘real’ representation of this whole wedding business. Yes, it’s glossy and gorgeous, but it’s also sweet and most importantly, stays focused on the real reason why we are supposed to get married – love.

I’m really looking forward to writing for Love My Dress because I want to be inspired by all the incredible creativity, passion and love that is so integral to making a wedding day truly special. I’m looking forward to bringing those magical moments to life through the real wedding features and giving everyone involved in the day the recognition they deserve through the invaluable resource that is Love My Dress!

Prior to getting engaged in February 2012, I had no idea how much weddings had moved on in both style and alternative options in recent years. I came across Love My Dress by accident, aimlessly browsing dresses and was amazed at the varied content. Unique and beautiful wedding features alongside practical advice and real-life dilemmas were setting a more unassuming tone than I had previously encountered, and of course I was hooked!

My all-time favourite real wedding is that of David and Ellie in Shoreditch Town Hall and there are so many reasons why I love it so much; there is a vibrancy in the images that conveys completely the love this couple have for each other along with a happy and relaxed feel to the day. It oozes cool yet at the same time it’s packed with personality.  The bride is stunning with her striking red hair alongside that beautiful Elizabeth Fillmore dress. My own wedding will take place in Ireland and One Fab Day has been a great source of venues and suppliers.

Currently I work in a beautiful fashion boutique in Soho in London where I am the store manager. I spend most of my lunch breaks browsing the various shops in the area and in the evenings I love trying new bars and restaurants I have spotted along the way. On my days off I enjoy meeting up with friends, wandering around the markets and along the Thames or I can be found trying new recipes. I also love to sew and I have been trying to teach myself to knit; I’m planning to have a new handmade scarf by next winter!

As a long time reader it is amazing to see this blog go through such a wonderful transition and it’s an absolute privilege to be a part of it. The quality of weddings featured on the blog are the most spectacular in so many different ways and I’m so excited to be able to share some of them with you lovely readers.

Katie LoweKatie Lowe is marrying her fiancé in August this year.  She lives in a music and dance-filled world, loves photos, speaks foreign languages and calls herself annoyingly healthy.  You can follow Katie on Twitter and Instagram.

I’m a linguist, I love playing with language and understanding the way it works. I was born to do something with words!  I’m a University Tutor and I teach Spanish to adults and children. I also manage and market a property in Spain, am planning my wedding and also renovating my 1905 house!  I look after 1.5 daughters, adore having music and THE best friends in my life and I also love to dance, keep fit and eat delicious food. Oh, and I’m currently learning to try and control my phone / social media addiction!

I have been following Love My Dress for about two years now and my favourite real wedding has to be this one. No doubt!  I love absolutely everything about this breathtaking wedding – the colour scheme is the same as my wedding-in-the-making. But to the opulent extreme. How many women would be daring enough to wear a taupe wedding dress?

I am going to be married for the second time on 2 August this year, so having a wedding blog or two in my feed goes without saying!  I particularly like Love My Dress because I think it has a warm, all inclusive feel to it. It’s not pretentious or judgemental and I feel that older brides like me don’t have to hang our heads with embarrassment and scuttle off to some freaky, old bride site.

I love that I’ve become a writer for Love My Dress, because I will be able to indulge in and share my love of weddings, beautiful photography and happy days. I have always loved weddings; I sadly destroyed my mom’s dress by wearing it around the garden as a child pretending to get married!   I feel really honoured to be part of the Love My Dress team and to be able to write about the couples’ special, unique and magical day.   PS – I’m desperate to be a bridesmaid! Anyone need a spare one?!

Kate TetlowKate Tetlow lives in Nottingham with her soon-to-be husband and is the owner of a modest little copywriting studio.  She loves pub quizzes, real books, long walks, the colour yellow, live music, campfires and polka dot dresses.  You can follow Kate on Twitter and Pinterest

I’m 33 and live in a little Victorian terrace in Nottingham with my fiancé.  I’ve been freelance copywriting since 2007 and love what I do.  I work from home, but try to get myself out of the house a lot too – meeting friends, raiding the local charity shops for vintage treasures and helping out at the stables where I keep my pony, Chum. I’ve had Chum 21 years and he’s an old man now, though still very beautiful and very cheeky.  My fiance is a climbing instructor, so we both followed our dreams career wise, albeit in very different directions. We only bought our house last year and we’ve really enjoyed making it our own and tidying up our first garden. The little things make us happy!

My favourite Love My Dress real wedding is this flower crown and Katya Katya Shehurina beauty. Could this be the coolest couple on the planet? I think so. Everything is just effortlessly wonderful. I adore the bride’s style – it’s so very similar to what I picture myself going for on the day. And the woodland setting is perfect, exactly what I dreamt of when I first got engaged. Sigh. This London wedding comes a close second – completely different, but still so cool and so charming. Gold shoes, 3D printing, beautiful natural-looking bride, street food, gold shoes – I find myself clicking on these two weddings again and again.

I was a bit of a latecomer to reading blogs, so I’m only just starting to look a few that I like enough to dip in and out of regularly. Love My Dress is the exception!  It’s always felt like such a lovely community, and a beautiful corner of the internet to escape to. I’m so proud to be joining such a talented team. And I can’t wait to help tell brides’ personal stories – what an honour. I hope I’ll be able to inspire readers in the way I’ve been inspired myself.

Rebecca JenkinsonRebecca is a proud mummy to triplets, founder of Pretty Little Trio and hostess of The Secret Vintage Tea Party. She has a slightly overgrown allotment and can also be found rummaging for vintage treasures at auctions and car boot sales.  You can follow Rebecca on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.

I run Pretty Little Trio Vintage Hire, which I set up after having my triplets who are now 4 and start school in September. I live in a little terrace that overlooks the Bridgewater Canal, that my husband Iain and I lovingly restored and that the children are now lovingly pulling apart.

In my ‘spare time’ I have an allotment, in which I do a brilliant line in weeds and rhubarb. I’m a rubbish cook but I love food. I make my children listen to Blur, Elvis and The Jam because I love music and and want them too as well. We watch a lot of Disney films. My claim to fame is I once took a naked photo of Robbie Williams and sold it to the Daily Star, NME and Melody Maker to fund my post-grad Masters in Town Planning!  (not as dodgy as it sounds, he was on stage at the time and it was prior to the dawn of the camera phone!).

My job is brilliant as it fits in with my family and I love what I do. I was married 7 years ago and relished planning every bit of it and still enjoy keeping up to speed with trends. It has changed so much even in that time, there were no wedding blogs.  I also run The Secret Vintage Tea Party.

My Favourite ever Love My Dress wedding was this one as its absolutely planned to perfection!  Such a huge amount of detail has gone it to it, the colours, that DRESS! It’s all so quintessentially English but uber cool at the same time and I adore the details.

I’m so happy to be joining the feature writing team at Love My Dress – I adore seeing the love and effort put in to each and every wedding that is featured and the expressions of the couple as each part of the day unfold.  I feel very lucky that I’m going to be able to share with you some of the real weddings on the blog, which are such an inspiration and also a great source of advice and ideas for couples planning their own day.

I’ve filled a little dream of mine establishing my first proper writing team.  Now to focus on my next project that will make Love My Dress an even more inspiring and enjoyable place for you to visit.

I would be so grateful if you could take a moment to welcome my fabulous five – I know they’d really love to hear from you too.

Have a beautiful Sunday everyone,

Love Annabel xx
